President's Message

Submitted by Donna D'Camp
In a speech
in 1961, John Kennedy used this quote “to
whom much is given, much is required”. The Kennedy’s had everything a person
could want wealth, good looks, a close family and because of all he had he felt
the need to give something back.
Not many people have the wealth or looks of the Kennedy family but I do feel we
also have been given much and we should require ourselves to give something
back.
In Kennedy’s
speech he went on to say if we fulfill our responsibility we will be measured by
the answers to 4 questions
1. Are we people of courage?
a.
It takes
courage to do something you have never done or to do your job in a different
way. But the results can be worthwhile.
2.
Are we
people of judgment with enough wisdom to know we don’t know and enough candor to
admit it?
a.
In taking
the position as President of ILSNA I can already admit there is a lot I don’t
know, but I’m am learning. Asking for
help will teach us to depend on others and teach others they can depend on us.
Are you willing to learn in your job?
3.
Are we
people of integrity?
a.
In the
dictionary integrity means to have a code of values showing honesty,
truthfulness, and reliability. We need to be a good example of integrity for
children and co-workers. If we don’t who will?
a.
There is
nothing better than to see someone who is dedicated and passionate about their
job. They care that their job is done
correctly and want to do their best. Their
dedication makes their job enjoyable.
I hope that
you can answer all 4 of these questions positively because I’m sure that you
have been given much and now you now much is required of you.
